A Sad Day: My Favourite Sketchbook is Full

It's a sad day - my favourite sketchbook is full. I mean, it's like your best friend for almost a year, and suddenly there's no pages left. It leaves a huge hole in your heart. It's so strange to actually leave it behind. And I've been looking for a replacement, but found nothing that even comes close. Sigh.

Day 2 of Window Painting in Condo Lobby

It's my little Christmas cheer contribution to where we live - festive windows. Completely taken up the past two evenings though. All the residents seem to like them.

Will try and finish tomorrow, as bedtime now. Wendy was helping tonight, which was awesome. The fuzzy birds were .... interesting.

Misc Things

Just finished and now drying ... now I'm starting a small portrait and also finishing a painting of Norm's new country home (commission).

And preparing for a jury review of 5 pieces for the OSA.

Well, I'm not bored.

Off today for an ultrasound at lunch. That's not nerve racking at all. 😖

This morning postcard

People have a really hard time understanding that someone is ok to be alone. Others keep planning things for me to do, and they really do believe it's something I must secretly want. After all, why would anyone just need solace and time to work on their own. Was advised yesterday that its not normal, I need to get out into the world.

Well I was out yesterday, and have a lovely canvas blocked in to work on today in addition to several sketches. And about a zillion mosquito bites, which irritate the hell out of me.

Cottage Morning

Still deciding on best view for painting. Would like one that includes the cottage, which is proving the biggest challenge. Sketched a postcard of flowers in the interim.

I really, really like this view from the porch, but no cottage in it. Still deciding then.

On Vacation in Northern Ontario

Arrive yesterday, so today just working on de-stressing. That should take up the first week.

The view is awesome; great cottage choice really. Too many mosquitoes for my taste, but that is unavoidable in Ontario. Drawing some little ink postcards to warm up and cool down. Dogs are napping in the porch with me. I could spend entire days in this porch. It's perfect.

In fact, it's probably good my time in the country is limited. I'm certain I'd return to being a completely landscape painter if I stayed too long. The morning light is remarkable, and the afternoon is soft and tangible. Lovely.

Now if only I'd brought someone along who cooks ...

7 Trucks in the Driveway & Beer Cooler Going dry faster than Ice melts

Yah, we're roofing in the country. Thank God for power nailers ... although my brother-in-law keeps complaining about shooting blanks.

I'm not sure he understands the reference.

Bicentennial Commemoration of the Skirmish at Hoople's Creek - This Weekend

Oh, to be a star. There have been Hoople's in this country before it was a country. So it's back to the homestead this Sunday to celebrate with the historical society. It's pretty cool; my mother and Aunt will be in full 1812 costumes on stage for this bicentennial.

Everything is being held by Hoople's Creek at the Lost Villages Museum, County Road 2. Eastern Ontario, of course.
